While I have definitely seen a drop in my workload since graduation in August, I am still just as busy. Fortunately, it is with resume updates, job searching, and interviews. After sending out innumerable resumes and applications, I have been lucky to land around six or eight interviews. It's been very exciting, but also very informative. Each interview has helped to reinforce what it takes to become an instructional designer and the experiences have been invaluable. Not only have my interviewing skills benefitted, but I have also been able to map out areas I need improvement in. Below are some of the most important things I have taken from my instructional design interviewing experiences:
  1. Collaboration is KEY!
  2. Flexibility is absolutely essential.
  3. Examples speak louder than words.
  4. Know your strengths AND your weaknesses (and how to address them).
  5. Do your research.
  6. Have questions ready.
  7. It's not a bad thing to be a jack-of-all-trades.
