Description
The Seniors' Guide to Social Media is a blended learning course designed for members of a local Senior Center who have an interest in connecting with friends and family via social media. The Seniors’ Guide to Social Media provides seniors with the knowledge and skills needed to become confident, responsible digital citizens capable of navigating the complex social media platform Facebook.

Rationale
The sample design plan for Seniors' Guide to Social Media demonstrates how I designed and implemented an online learning environment to benefit a variety of learners.
In order to design this instructional plan,  I completed extensive research in educational gerontology. This research enabled me to develop practical strategies to create course content and assessments for older learners.

Alignment to Career Goals and Professional Standards
This project was a labor of love for me as it combined two of my interests - teaching and instructional design. It gave me a chance to design for older students who have a very different set of needs than I was used to working with. This project showed me how important it is that I am comfortable working with and designing for a variety of learners. It also highlighted the importance of research to support best practices in design.

Description
Pellissippi State Community College Emergency Action Plan Training (EAP Training) is a required online training course designed for employees at Pellissippi State Community College. The Health & Safety Compliance Manager at Pellissippi State expressed a need for online training to ensure faculty, staff, and administration were able to complete the required training. With the varied schedules and capabilities of college employees, there was a need for accessible online training.
Rationale
Working on the collaboratively crafted sample Pellissippi State Community College EAP Training allowed me to get a real sense of what it means to be an instructional designer. After working with staff and subject-matter experts, my team members and I designed and developed course content to provide faculty, staff, and administrators at Pellissippi State Community College required emergency action plan training. The instructional design plan and training course includes course objectives, learner activities, assessments, and course completion requirements.
Alignment to Career Goals and Professional Standards
During the course of my program at UT, I found that my interests have expended to include adult learning in both higher education and workforce training. This particular project allowed me the chance to experience both. It was challenging and tested both my knowledge and collaborative skills. I feel like, out of all my coursework, this project was one of the most beneficial.
